NO.
LATEST BAND NAME FAD
It’s nothing new to name your band after a well-known phrase, but there really seems to be an influx of this happening a lot lately. All the new bands adding me on myspace are called… “you can say that again”, “like clockwork”, “what goes up must come down”… sweet.

LABEL OBSESSED
If you browse the http://www.absolutepunk.net forums, half of the threads are news updates about certain bands either signing to, or being dropped from a particular record label. These threads are always followed by hundreds of user comments, either slamming or praising the label or band’s decision. Why do so many ‘fans’ care about record labels? Just 10 years ago, nobody cared...

I love my amp. This thing fuckin’ sings!
This old topic again: CD's
With the way things are headed, I’m convinced that music will soon become nothing more than a promotional device for an artist. It will be unheard-of for a band to expect to be paid for a copy of their latest record. The new generations of consumers will say “I like music, but it’s not something I would ever pay for”, as they roll their eyes at the thought of it. So…...

Dear Original Penguin,
Stop it with the BROWN.
ironic moustache
Were they ever NOT funny? The answer is YES:
My father had a moustache when he was in his early 20’s (early 1970’s). A few months back I asked him “Dad, when you had a moustache in your early twenties, were you and all your buddies tyring to be ironic”? “Huh?” he said. He couldn’t understand how having a moustache would be considered ironic. So I told...

so now what?
So we made a new record. It’s AWESOME. We don’t know how or when it will be released. There are many things to consider. Writing/recording/releasing is a long process, but we know that it’s best to patient and take our time with it. It’ll be worth the wait. In the meantime, we’re booking and playing tons of shows (mostly regionally for now), so come to these rock...
home.
We drove straight home. We left at 11am yesterday and i stepped in the door 30 min ago. I’ve been up for 27 hours now. 20+ spent in a van. So psyched to be back! Now the real work begins.

Day 31
It’s done!
I hold in my hand our new record. It sounds awesome. Today was mostly spent mixing. We tracked a few group vocals and a couple guitar solos. There were highs and lows and i don’t just mean the notes. Being here together for the last month, we’ve talked a lot about what it is we’re trying to do with this band. Happy to say that we are all on the same page and...

Day 30
Not over yet. Marc is mixing more songs as I type. We finished all the vocals (except for a few gang chants: OUUGH!).
Day 29
Just 2 days left! Holy crap. Marc spent a lot of today mixing. We pretty much got one song mixed solid, so we’ll just apply the settings we used on it to the other 12 tunes (using automation), and work from there. Roger just finished moogs on his 2nd to last song. We didn’t complete our whole list like we planned, but I’m sure we’ll get everything done by tomorrow. We kinda...
